I want to go on a trip to Alton Towers with a group of friends, will the fund pay for this?

No, a trip to an amusement park or similar would not be eligible. The activity must have an element of adventure and must be a challenge to the individual
Such activities could be expeditions, climbing, sailing, residential courses etc.
Does this mean that a Beaver Scout trip to a climbing wall would not attract funding?
What is adventurous to an 18 year old is very different to what is adventurous to a 7 year old - so a trip to a climbing wall for a
Beaver would be considered.
If I apply, will I automatically get funding?

No, each application is considered by a committee which meets six times a year and its decision is final.
Will you cover the full cost of my funding application?
Costs up to a maximum of half the costs of the application will normally be paid directly to the organising body.
You gave my organisation funding for an activity last year, will you automatically give the same funding this year?
No, each application is considered separately.
I want to go in two weeks time, will you consider my application as soon as possible?

We normally expect applications to be submitted at least two months prior to the activity taking place.
I have changed my mind and now don’t want to go, can a friend take my place?

 No, grants are not transferable.
I went on a trip earlier this year, can I claim retrospective funding?

No, all grants must be approved prior to the event.
Can the monies be paid directly to me so I can make my own arrangements?

No, all monies can only be paid to the organising body.
